About Us
The mission of the Shenandoah Valley Dental Association is to represent and serve the members of our society and the public by fostering quality oral health care through continuing education, open communication, and legislation.
The Shenandoah Valley Dental Association was founded in 1914 as a local component of the Virginia Dental Association. We represent a variety of dental specialties such as general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and orthodontics. Our current membership includes over 260 general and specialty dentists. The areas that we serve include the counties of Albemarle, Augusta, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Nelson, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren.
The SVDA is also known as Component VII of the Virginia Dental Association. Our members are part of a tripartite system that provides them with benefits to the ADA, VDA and SVDA. The purpose of our society is to promote harmonious understanding, cooperation and good fellowship among its members; to improve the level of dental knowledge and techniques; to strive to elevate the standard of dentistry in our contacts with fellow practitioners and clientele; to aid, in an ethical manner, the dissemination of dental knowledge to the public through education of oral health and advanced scientific dental services; and to foster all agencies which promote the advancement of dentistry.
